Giovanni’s Room presents an installation by Alexander Schneider of the project Homocommunist in Paris, concurrent to the Homocommunist exhibition (Oct 14- Nov 28) at the LA Gallery.
The presentation deploys ephemera, objects, books, and printed materials as part of a broader collaborative project to construct a history and aesthetic of homocommunism, investigating connections between queer politics, sexual dissident histories, leftist struggles, and the cultural products of former (and potential future) socialist states. Alongside the presentation are a series of four original risograph prints.
Alexander Schneider is a writer, editor, and arts worker. His project Homocommunist is an archive of radical queer histories, aesthetics, and political and liberatory struggles.
